If you’re chasing beautiful beaches that are uncrowded and won’t break the budget, then Albania is your answer. It’s got the same blue water of Greece and dramatic coastlines of Croatia, but with a laidback charm of its own. The Albanian Riviera is covered with beaches, offering everything from tiny little coves with perfect sun-bathing rocks, to calm open bays that are ideal for family beach days, and even some lively beach bars that will have you up and dancing in no time!
With so many beaches to choose from, we’ve narrowed it down to a few of our favourites. Here are the BEST beaches in Albania that deserve a spot on your itinerary.
Ksamil beach
Ksamil Beach is the beach that’s on every beautiful postcard of the Albanian Riviera. It’s got everything you want in a beach - blue water, white sand and views that will make you feel like you stepped into a tropical paradise.
It’s a little more built up than other beaches, but it’s a great option for families, with plenty of activities to do. We suggest renting a kayak and paddling across to the little islands just offshore (it’s well worth it!)
What makes this beach great is how easily accessible it is. You can stay in Ksamil itself, which has plenty of accommodation options, meaning you’re always just a few minutes away from the beach.

Pulebardha Beach
Otherwise known as ‘seagull beach’, this piece of paradise is just a short drive from Ksamil but is much quieter. Pulëbardha Beach is a small cove tucked between cliffs, with water that is so blue it almost looks fake (but it’s not - we checked!).
During the summer months, there’s always a pop-up beach bar, but it’s never too crowded, and you’ll often be sharing it with locals. It’s a great option if you’re in the Ksamil or Butrint area and are looking for something more peaceful.

Palase Beach
Palasë Beach is just off Dhermi, right at the foot of the Llogara Pass, which is one of the most scenic drives in the Balkans. Reward yourself by stopping by this beautiful beach and taking in the crystal clear water.
Thanks to its vast beach with plenty of space, you can always find a sunbed, even in peak season! There is also plenty of untouched space so you can spread out, build those sand castles and enjoy the scenery.
Dhermi is just a few minutes up the road, so base yourself there and make the most of the restaurants and boutique villas on offer.

Lukova Beach
Lukova Beach isn’t in all of the guidebooks, and that’s just one of the reasons why we love it. It’s got crystal clear water and is surrounded by beautiful green hills that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a movie.
It’s the perfect mix of peaceful and accessible, with plenty of sunbeds and lots of untouched areas. If you’re looking for a quiet escape, stay in Lukovë village, or head 25 minutes away to Himarë, which has a little bit more going on.

Dhermi Beach
Dhermi beach is one of the more well-known beaches in Albania, and for good reason! It’s framed by rocky mountains and has plenty of options for bars, cafes and restaurants. There is always a fun vibe in the air, and let’s just say - it’s worth sticking around until the nightlife kicks in.
This is a great option for solo travellers, friends or couples that want to make the most of their time in Albania. There is a range of accommodation types available in Dhermi village, located just above the beach.

Jale Beach
Jale Beach is another hot spot for the young travellers, with a few beach clubs located right in the centre of it all. But don’t worry, it’s not too overwhelming and there is still a mix of swimming, snorkelling and relaxing to be had. The water doesn’t get much calmer than this, so it’s the perfect spot to do some swimming and lounging.
There are hotels and cabins right on the beach if you want to stay amongst the action; otherwise, Himarë is only 10 minutes away with more dining and accommodation options.

Gjipe Beach
Gjipe beach is by far one of the most unique beaches on our list, and there is a reason it’s one of our Top 5 things to do in Albania. This hidden cove is wedged between the Gjipe Canyon, making for some pretty spectacular views. Getting here is an adventure in itself, with no real roads leading in, meaning you need to take a boat ride, join a 4x4 tour or hike through the valley. Our personal preference is to take a hike, allowing you to really take in the views. We tackle the hike through the canyon on our Corfu & Albania Explorer, before being rewarded with the beautiful views of Gipje Beach at the end!
You can stay in the nearby beach towns of Dhermi or Himarë, which both offer a range of restaurants and accommodation options. Trust us when we say, you do not want to miss this beach!

Albania’s coastline is extremely varied, and there are so many beaches and turquoise coves to choose from! They all have something to offer, from lively beach clubs to quiet coves and beautiful snorkelling spots. You can base yourself in towns like Ksamil, Himarë or Dhermi and easily spend your days beach hopping and enjoying everything this country has to offer.
